Is killing someone for killing right
How would you feel knowing that you are going to die tomorrow at a specific time and you can’t do nothing about it? The death penalty is the most cruel punishment that ever existed and has been in use in America since 1608.It should not be used anywhere in the world. I am against death penalty because not all victims sent on death penalty are guilty, and it is a cruel punishment that should be abolished. Besides that it violates the 8th and 14th amendment. Why should it be used if it violates some of the amendments?
Many innocent people are cent to jail. Over 487 people have been free from death row because they were later proven innocent. On 2004 in Texas a man was executed for setting a fire that killed his three small children. Scientific analysis has shown that there was no evidence that the fire in a one story, wood frame house was the result of fire. In other words, it was an accident. No crime had occurred. This man was already dead when found innocent. They should have at least have been fair and proved if it was evident or not.
It is also a big waste of money and time. Criminologists were asked if executions lower homicide rates. Over 5% said yes and 88% said no. In Texas a death penalty case costs an average of 2.3 million, about 3 times the cost of imprisoning someone in a single cell at the highest security level for 40 years. Police chiefs consider the death penalty the least efficient use of tax payer’s money.
However, according to roughly a dozen studies, executions save lives. The studies say that for each person put to death 3 to 18 murders are prevented. Those executions permanently remove the worst criminals from society and is safer for prison guards since most dangerous criminals have been executed. Surprisingly the bible prescribes death for murder and many other crimes including kidnapping and witchcraft. This is true but it is not enough to keep the whole world safe.
Do you know how cruel the punishments are? Execution could not ever be fast and pain free. Lethal injection may appear to be the most pain free but is a very slow process. If the needle is inserted correctly into the vein it allows it to function properly, causing unconsciousness in less than 10 seconds and death in less than 10 minutes. The biggest single objection to lethal injection is the length of time required to prepare the prisoner and carry out their sentence which can be from 20 to 45 minutes depending on the ease of finding a vein to inject into. Throughout this period the person knows that they are being put to death. Shooting Retribution is seen by many as the principal reason for favoring the death penalty. It is also felt by many families of murder victims to be a strong reason for witnessing the execution of their loved one's murderer, in states that allow this, as it provides closure for them. But it just traumatizes them.
For these reasons the death penalty should be abolished. Because killing a person for killing is not the right thing to do. Living in a potty hole of a jail is cruel enough.
